For the love of wine

One of my favorite projects was an underground wine cellar. My client didn't have any extra space in his home for a cellar to store his sizable wine collection. So you know what he did? He dug out a room underground, underneath his garage! He was able to create a large room, it was dark and cool, and it was just a few steps down from the main house. I had a blank slate to work with, and came up with the wine cellar you see in the pictures below.

It's constructed of solid butternut, a naturally warm-colored wood. It has space for hundreds of bottles of wine with extra shelving for champagne, along with storage space for unopened cases of each. There are shelves, drawers, doors, and hand-forged iron latticework for storing champagne bottles. There is a built-in computer in the desk where my client keeps an inventory of his wine. The door to the wine cellar and the closet door are made of solid butternut with hand-forged iron hardware. This cellar is spacious enough that my client can have small parties and wine tastings, yet intimate enough for sharing a special bottle of wine with his wife.

I have built several wine cellars over the years for clients that wanted something extra special and custom built to their needs and desires, something they couldn't get from a commercial wine-rack builder. Using solid hardwoods, hand carving, metal and/or art glass, special lighting, and many other one-of-a-kind details I can create an environment like no other, a truly distinctive setting for your wine collection. A wine cellar is more than storage space. It's that unique room for categorizing your collection in an orderly fashion, for displaying your reserve in a beautiful setting, and for sharing your love of wine with family and friends.
