Art Deco Door in Tiburon, CA

A long-time client's son built a home in Tiburon, CA, across the Golden Gate Bridge, north of San Francisco, surrounded by forest and a bay view and still close to the city. Talk about a beautiful setting! The architecture is contemporary with Art Deco elements. I wanted to incorporate that in my design for the front door, but also to reflect the surroundings as well. I came up with a contemporary Art Deco tree design.

The door is made of solid cherry with wenge accents. The glass is a leaf design in the upper half of the door. The leaves are squares of various colors of green, green-brown, and green-yellow glass that I fused in my kiln. The lower glass is textured kiln-cast clear glass to allow light, and at the same time give privacy. The finished entry worked perfect to bridge the house and surroundings together.
