Dolphins in Dana Point, CA

My clients travel, and they have gone scuba diving all over the world, so they wanted an ocean scene on their front entry this time. (This is the third home that I have done the entryway for them.) I have lived near the ocean most of my life so I understand the attraction to the ocean and the sea life that live in it.

The doors and the carved dolphins are made of black walnut with a natural marine finish. The dolphins are heavily carved on both the inside and the outside of the door with special attention to the face and gracefulness of the body. The fish and sea horses are deeply carved into 1/2" thick glass with a lot of attention to detail and fused with colored glass in my kiln. I developed a large palate of colors to give them the realism I was looking for and made moulds to texture the glass to look like moving water. I was very happy with all the effort I put into this entryway, as were my clients.
