Hand-Carved Solid Teak Entryway in the Japanese Style

A beautiful contemporary home in Point Loma with an incredible view of the San Diego Bay is the location of one of my latest projects. The home has large windows everywhere for views of the bay and the beautiful Asian-style landscape front and back, along with a pond to complete the elegance of the architecture.

The door is solid teak, 2-1/4 inches thick by 6 feet wide by 9 feet tall. It is hand carved on both sides with a Japanese-style pine tree. I worked closely with the ownbers on the design and type of pine tree as they had a specific look they wanted. I really enjoy working with clients, helping them achieve the look they are envisioning.

The door is hung on an automatic door operator which allows this very heavy door to open and close with ease but can’t be blown shut with a gust of wind. The teak is finished with a natural finish. The carving fits perfectly with the contemporary architecture and the Asian landscape.
