Zion Fox Entryway

This entryway design is just up my creek, pun intended! It's final destination was in Zion, Utah, in the hills above the creek that runs through Zion. The homeowner had me carve "The Gray Fox Den" in the door jamb above the door, an appropriate description.

The house was a labor of love for the owner using rock, stucco, and wood so that the house almost feels like it has grown out of the landscape and I wanted my door to also reflect that feeling.

The design includes a mother fox and her kit, the Canyon maple trees that grow close to the creek and the Cathedral Mountains surrounding the canyon. It's an awe inspiring place to be.

The solid walnut carved door, jamb, trim, and 1/2" thick carved, hand-painted and fused glass really fits the location. I drove out to Zion, delivering and installing the entryway, and stayed at the home while working there. It's a magical place, and working there didn't seem as much like work as it did an experience in nature.
